This key describes the notation attached to the various different types of guitar chords on the following pages.
The root note of the chord is indicated by a capital letter R above the string that the root note appears on.
An open string is one which is played without any fingers pressing the string against any fret, and is indicated by the small letter o above the string, unless it is the root note.
A string which is not to be played is indicated by a small letter x above the string.
The numbered circles represent the position of the fingers of the left hand on the strings (Assumes a left handed person). 1 is the index finger, 2 is the second finger, 3 is the ring finger, 4 is the little finger.
The numbers of the frets are indicated down the left hand side of the figure.
