The following article appeared in a government controlled newspaper -
The Zimbabwe Herald - Oct 2000.
In It's continuing desire to become the African Continent's leader in IT
and communications development, the Government of Zimbabwe today announced
the introduction of 'Africa's first completely mobile, hands free
telephone'.
Government spokesman, and head of the ruling party's ZANU PF IT DEPT, Mr.
Friday Chimboro, said ''Not only is this Africa's first completely mobile
hands-free telephone, but we believe it to be the first of it's kind in
the world.
Furthermore, the beauty of this invention is that it is totally compatible
with any type of mobile (cell) phone available anywhere in the world''
Mr. Chimboro continued "We have had Government inspectors visit our
state-of-the-art facilities at Tafara, and have received their
unconditional seal of approval.
In fact, we were privileged to have been allowed to take official
photographs of this wonderful new invention actually in use by one of the
Government inspectors."
(See attachment).
Despite considerable opposition from several International authorities
around the world, The Zimbabwe Government is determined to register the
patent of their modern invention.
